| An immense, ornately carved red lacquer door welcomes you to the Six Senses Spa and the experience grows increasingly elaborate from there. Designed around the Chinese elements of fire, water, earth, wood and metal, the dￃﾩcor takes on an upscale Asian contemporary feel with textured walls, marble floors and two cerulean pools. Perhaps the most serene element is that which is most natural, the South China Sea, sitting calmly in perfect view from many of the treatment rooms. Traditional Chinese medicine therapies like Tuina (HK$1,200) and Shiatsu (HK$950) massages work their invigorating magic (not surprising when intense acupressure is involved), but if real pampering is on the docket, you should head straight for the private entrance to your own VIP Suite and treat yourself to a balancing service (HK$3,600) that gets your body's chakras in order with a Chinese sweet herbal body polish and a private Vichy shower, followed by a Swedish massage and rejuvenating facial. We don't know about our chakras, but we sure felt more balanced afterward. |
