| This French restaurant is decorated in an Art Deco style; the idea is to reproduce a classic Parisian brasserie ambiance, but we doubt that brasseries of yore ever bore Chinese contemporary art on their walls. (Still, these loaners from Shanghai art dealers and museums lend the restaurant a nice, modern touch.) Meals fare better, thanks to all-star chef Philippe Marc's consultancy in the kitchen. If the name doesn't ring a bell, here's a hint: The man's the executive chef at Alain Ducasse at the Hotel Plaza Athenee in Paris. Try the roasted chicken or homemade foie gras with figs, both terrific examples of the no-frills home-style French cooking. Take it to the terrace, close your eyes and it's as if you're virtually in the Left Bank. |
